L'église fut construite entre 1875 et 1879, par l'architecte bordelais Pierre-Charles Brun, sur l'emplacement de l'ancienne chapelle des carmes. De style néo-gothique, elle présente un plan en croix latine, avec une nef et deux bas-côtés, un transept peu saillant et un chevet à trois absides. Un important programme de vitraux est dû aux maîtres verriers Lorin (choeur) et Feur (nef). Le maître-autel en marbre, daté de 1740 et dû au sculpteur Pierre Vernet, est un remploi de l'église des carmes.

History
The church was built between 1875 and 1879, by Bordeaux architect Pierre-Charles Brun, on the site of the old chapel of the Carmelites. Of neo-Gothic style, it presents a plan in Latin cross, with a nave and two aisles, a slightly projecting transept and a chevet with three apses. An important programme of stained-glass windows is due to the master glaziers Lorin (choir) and Feur (nave). The marble high altar, dated 1740 and due to sculptor Pierre Vernet, is a reuse from the church of the Carmelites.
