Réalisé en 1922 par le sculpteur Gaston Leroux-Veneuvot, le monument ne sera inauguré quen 1927, après un long procès qui opposera la ville à lartiste. Lensemble se présente sous la forme dune stèle devant laquelle se dresse un soldat debout avec, reposant à ses pieds, deux soldats blessés. De lautre côté, une représentation de la France inscrit le nom des victimes du conflit. Deux autres éléments ont été ajoutés afin dy mentionner les noms des combattants morts durant la guerre de 1939-1945.

History
Created in 1922 by sculptor Gaston Leroux-Veneuvot, the monument was not inaugurated until 1927, after a lengthy trial that opposed the town to the artist. The ensemble presents itself in the form of a stele in front of which stands a soldier upright with, resting at his feet, two wounded soldiers. On the other side, a representation of France inscribes the names of the victims of the conflict. Two other elements were added in order to mention the names of combatants who died during the 1939-1945 war.
