Historique
La maison de type "oustau" a été construite pour remplir trois fonctions : résidence, bureau et magasin, notamment pour les denrées exotiques. L'armateur et commerçant Isaac Couturier acheta un terrain pour faire bâtir cet édifice, déjà achevé en 1750. Le premier étage était voué aux salles d'apparat. Quatre salons s'alignaient le long de la rue Rénière, une salle à manger donnant à l'arrière. Le salon dit "vert" a conservé ses lambris et sa cheminée en marbre blanc. Le deuxième étage comprenait les chambres. Au-dessus s'étend l'étage des combles. L'architecte était sans doute Etienne Dardan. Les ferronneries d'origine ont été conservées. La façade arrière s'appuie sur l'ancien rempart. La différence de niveau entre la rue Rénière et l'impasse arrière explique que la façade correspondante présente deux niveaux de demi sous-sols aux pièces voûtées, avec un puits intérieur.

History
The house of type "oustau" was built to fulfill three functions: residence, office and shop, particularly for exotic goods. The shipowner and merchant Isaac Couturier bought land to have this building constructed, already completed in 1750. The first floor was devoted to state rooms. Four drawing rooms were aligned along rue Rénière, a dining room giving to the rear. The drawing room called "green" has retained its wainscoting and its white marble fireplace. The second floor comprised the bedrooms. Above extends the roof space floor. The architect was doubtless Etienne Dardan. The original ironwork has been preserved. The rear facade rests upon the old rampart. The difference in level between rue Rénière and the rear passageway explains that the corresponding facade presents two levels of semi-basements with vaulted rooms, with an interior well.
