L'airial d'Hourtan se compose d'une maison et de plusieurs dépendances réparties dans une clairière entourée de pins. Une étude dendrochronologique indique que l'habitation a été construite à la fin du 16e ou au début du 17e siècle. Les parties supérieures de l'édifice ont été remaniées au début du 18e siècle. La maison présente la disposition classique de ce type d'habitation landaise : plan massé tripartite avec au centre une salle principale ouvrant à l'est sur un auvent l'eustantade. Les dépendances existant encore (étable, grange, bergerie) ont remplacé après 1834 des bâtiments antérieurs ; elles ont été soit bâties après cette date, soit construites à une époque antérieure et transportées à Hourtan.

History
The airial of Hourtan is composed of a house and several outbuildings scattered in a clearing surrounded by pines. A dendrochronological study indicates that the dwelling was built at the end of the 16th or the beginning of the 17th century. The upper parts of the building were modified in the early 18th century. The house presents the classical layout of this type of Landes dwelling: tripartite massed plan with at the centre a main room opening to the east on to a shed the eustantade. The outbuildings still existing (stable, barn, sheepfold) replaced after 1834 earlier buildings; they were either built after that date, or built at an earlier time and transported to Hourtan.
