Historique

History
Main dwelling established on a site occupied since prehistory. It succeeded the tower established in the 12th century, encompassing a still very complete Romanesque castle chapel. The ruins of the medieval mill, destroyed at the end of the 19th century, are visible at the foot of the eastern curtain wall of the castle. This fortress, having suffered assaults during the Hundred Years' War, was rebuilt and rearranged by Jean de Piis and his family in the course of the 15th and 16th centuries. Before the Revolution, the seigneury belonged to Montesquieu. Sold several times over and fallen into ruins, the domain has, for several years, been undergoing restoration and is the subject of archaeological excavations.
