L'aqueduc d'Ayguesvives est l'un des exemplaires les plus complets des aqueducs du "nouveau dessein" ou "dessein réformé" de Vauban, tel qu'il a été interprété par les ingénieurs Niquet, Cailus et Minet. History
The aqueduct of Ayguesvives is one of the most complete examples of the aqueducts of the "new design" or "reformed design" of Vauban, as it was interpreted by the engineers Niquet, Cailus and Minet. It was constructed from 1687 to 1689 by Dominique Gillade. The structure is almost intact, despite substantial repairs in the 19th century, which did not however modify its general appearance. The intake and outlet sumps are buried under alluvium, and it is not possible to know their condition. The only significant modification that the structure has undergone appears to be the replacement of the parapet of the bridge on the canal side by a metal railing, as well as of the cappings of the intake and outlet wells.
