Historique
Cette maison de négociant est longée par le chemin de servitude pour aller à la mer qui baigne les fondations et les murs du jardin. Elle fut bâtie lors de l'opération d'urbanisme que connut le quartier au 16e siècle ; le logis, construit vers 1560, est desservi par un escalier hors-oeuvre en façade postérieure ; il fut agrandi au 17e siècle (aile nord le long du chemin) et orné de lambris au 18e siècle. Dans la salle du rez-de-chaussée, à l'ouest, on voit sur le linteau de la cheminée un écu entre deux lions sculptés en faible relief ; l'écu, ne portant pas d'armoiries, est sans doute une marque de marchand. L'intérêt de cette maison réside également dans ses vastes caves voûtées en berceau qui servaient à entreposer tonneaux et marchandises diverses.

History
This merchant's house is bordered by the service path leading to the sea which bathes the foundations and the walls of the garden. It was built during the urban development that the neighbourhood underwent in the 16th century; the main dwelling, built around 1560, is served by an external staircase on the rear façade; it was enlarged in the 17th century (north wing along the path) and decorated with wainscoting in the 18th century. In the ground floor room, to the west, there is on the lintel of the fireplace a shield between two lions carved in low relief; the shield, bearing no coat of arms, is undoubtedly a merchant's mark. The interest of this house also lies in its vast barrel-vaulted cellars which served to store barrels and various goods.
