History

Cited from the 11th century, Baignolet was the seat of a priory dependent on the Benedictine abbey of Bonneval (Eure-et-Loir). In the 13th century, it benefited from numerous donations. From the 11th and 12th centuries remain the nave, the apse, the lower part of the bell tower and part of the western gable whose tympanum is opus reticulatum. In the 15th century, the nave was flanked by a north aisle. During the 19th century, major works were carried out until 1864. The coffered vault of the nave was replaced by a brick vault covered with plaster; all of the windows were transformed; a new three-sided choir was built inside the Romanesque apse.
