Historique
Crée vers 1635, le bailliage secondaire de Pont-de-l'Arche a son siège dans un ensemble construit contre le rempart nord et comprenant plusieurs bâtiments, dont une salle d'audience et des prisons (hommes et femmes) , avec logement de geôlier et chapelle. L'ensemble abrite également le bâtiment de Maîtrise des Eaux et Forêts. D'importants travaux ont été réalisés vers 1778 avant qu'en 1790 n'y siège le Conseil Municipal. Devenu mairie en 1804, il a été vendu en 1971 à un industriel, puis racheté par la commune en 1998. Si l'ancien Auditoire a été dénaturé, il subsiste aujourd'hui la presque totalité des constructions et volumes anciens (notamment pour les parties carcérales) et une part significative des aménagements intérieurs.

History
Created around 1635, the secondary bailiwick of Pont-de-l'Arche has its seat in an ensemble built against the north rampart and comprising several buildings, including an audience hall and prisons (for men and women), with gaoler's lodging and chapel. The ensemble also houses the building of the Waters and Forests Authority. Important works were carried out around 1778 before the Municipal Council sat there in 1790. Having become town hall in 1804, it was sold in 1971 to an industrialist, then repurchased by the commune in 1998. If the former Audience Chamber has been disfigured, today there remains almost all of the old buildings and volumes (notably for the prison sections) and a significant part of the interior arrangements.
