Cette abbaye a été fondée en 1189 par Richard Coeur de Lion, roi d'Angleterre. Les moines de Cîteaux s'y sont établis dès 1190. History
This abbey was founded in 1189 by Richard the Lionheart, King of England. The monks of Cîteaux established themselves there from 1190. The construction of the buildings was spread over the first half of the 13th century. In 1387 there took place the reconstruction of the cloister.
