Historique

History
The existence of the fortified house is attested at the end of the 14th century. The acknowledgements drawn up during the 16th century describe a modest construction which presents the characteristics common to all fortified houses built by the minor nobility at the end of the Middle Ages. Isolated in the heart of the rural domain, surrounded by agricultural outbuildings, the house stands on a ditched platform, fortified by an entrance work and towers. After the troubles, at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century, the fortified house is reworked or rebuilt, provided with a more comfortable main dwelling. The defensive character is attested by the presence of dry ditches, a drawbridge which protects the entrance, an enclosure pierced with loopholes and commanded by towers, one of which is substantial, a possible vestige of the 14th century construction. The agricultural dependencies are distributed around the lower courtyard. The main dwelling is flanked by an imposing staircase tower raised at the centre of the garden façade, and a square tower at its south-east angle. The chapel installed in the medieval round tower preserves rocaille painted decoration.
