Les Augustins s'installent à La Rochelle au début du 14e siècle. En 1562, les moines quittent leur couvent qui est dévasté en 1568. La chapelle est ensuite transformée en boutiques et le réfectoire affecté au culte protestant. Après 1628, les Augustins reviennent et, à partir de 1654, le couvent est reconstruit sur des plans de frère Médard Audureau. History
The Augustinians settled in La Rochelle at the beginning of the 14th century. In 1562, the monks leave their convent which is devastated in 1568. The chapel is then converted into shops and the refectory assigned to Protestant worship. After 1628, the Augustinians return and, from 1654 onwards, the convent is rebuilt according to plans by friar Médard Audureau. They are replaced in 1835 by sisters of Chavagnes who build school buildings. In the 20th century, the part on the street is converted into an apartment building.
