La chapelle fait partie d'une oeuvre de bienfaisance due à Pierre Bos Darnis qui, ayant fait fortune à Paris à la tête du Moniteur Industriel, souhaita la fondation près de sa maison natale d'un hospice destiné à accueillir les personnes âgées de milieu rural. La commune bénéficiaire du legs fit édifier, à l'intérieur d'un enclos, un bâtiment hospitalier accompagné d'une chapelle. Les plans furent confiés à l'architecte Auguste Magne et à son fils Lucien. Les travaux furent conduits de 1875 à 1887 par l'architecte Aigueparse. D'un style empruntant à la fois au roman et au gothique, la chapelle isolée présente une nef unique à trois travées et un chevet à pans dont la travée droite ouvre, de part et d'autre, sur la chapelle du confessionnal et sur la sacristie. Un mausolée à la mémoire du donateur, édicule hexagonal de plan centré, est accolé au chevet. Le clocher est élevé au-dessus de la première travée de la nef. Le tympan s'inspire directement du portail royal de Chartres. Outre les sculptures des chapiteaux, de l'ambon et des tympans des chapelles, le décor le plus exceptionnel est constitué par les trois toiles marouflées du choeur, dues au peintre Pierre Fritel. Ces peintures, illustrant la Passion du Christ, évoquent le style symboliste.

History
The chapel is part of a work of charity due to Pierre Bos Darnis who, having made his fortune in Paris at the head of the Moniteur Industriel, wished for the foundation near his birthplace of a hospice intended to welcome elderly people from rural areas. The beneficiary commune had constructed, within an enclosure, a hospital building accompanied by a chapel. The plans were entrusted to the architect Auguste Magne and his son Lucien. The works were conducted from 1875 to 1887 by the architect Aigueparse. Of a style borrowing from both Romanesque and Gothic, the isolated chapel presents a single nave of three bays and a chevet with faceted ends whose straight bay opens, on either side, onto the chapel of confession and onto the sacristy. A mausoleum in memory of the donor, a hexagonal small building of centred plan, is attached to the chevet. The bell tower is raised above the first bay of the nave. The tympanum draws directly from the royal portal of Chartres. Apart from the sculptures of the capitals, the ambo and the tympana of the chapels, the most exceptional decoration consists of the three marouflé canvases of the choir, due to the painter Pierre Fritel. These paintings, illustrating the Passion of Christ, evoke the symbolist style.
