Fontaine publique commémorative élevée pour rappeler l'action de l'intendant Monthyon qui organisa des ateliers de charité afin de fournir du travail aux indigents et de réaliser des travaux d'urbanisme. Edifiée en 1770, la fontaine est un édicule en pierre volcanique composé d'une vasque à godrons surmonté d'un mufle de lion crachant l'eau, l'ensemble étant amorti par un obélisque.

History
Commemorative public fountain erected to recall the action of the intendant Monthyon who organised charity workshops to provide work for the poor and carry out urban development works. Built in 1770, the fountain is a small structure in volcanic stone composed of a gadrooned basin surmounted by a lion's head spurting water, the whole crowned by an obelisk.
