History
The oldest parts of the church, located on the slope of rock at the periphery of the fortified enclosure, date back to the 12th century. The presbytery occupies a particular situation, above the nave. The building is constructed according to an elongated plan formed of a single nave terminated by a flat chevet. The latter rests on the former city gate which serves as a bell tower, built on a square plan and crowned by a rather modest campanile. The architectural characteristics link this church to Provençal Romanesque: simplicity of the original plan, barrel vault with ribs on transverse arches and large blind arcades opened later to create chapels.
