Historique
Monument commémorant l'assassinat du roi Alexandre Ier de Yougoslavie et de Louis Barthou en 1934. Le projet intitulé "Paix et Travail" de l'architecte Gaston Castel, en collaboration avec les sculpteurs Louis Botinelly, Elie-Jean Vézien et Antoine Sartorio, fait l'unanimité en octobre 1937. Le monument est achevé en 1938 et inauguré en 1941. Un bouclier monumental est soutenu par deux colonnes ornées de bas-reliefs et flanquées de deux grandes figures féminines allégoriques représentant la France et la Yougoslavie. En avant se dressent quatre statues féminines en pied tenant par groupe de deux les portraits des deux victimes.

History
Monument commemorating the assassination of King Alexander I of Yugoslavia and Louis Barthou in 1934. The project entitled "Peace and Labour" by architect Gaston Castel, in collaboration with sculptors Louis Botinelly, Elie-Jean Vézien and Antoine Sartorio, achieved unanimity in October 1937. The monument was completed in 1938 and inaugurated in 1941. A monumental shield is supported by two columns ornamented with bas-reliefs and flanked by two large allegorical female figures representing France and Yugoslavia. In front stand four full-length female statues holding in pairs the portraits of the two victims.
