Principale demeure des Foix-Rabat, le château s'inscrit dans un quadrilatère cantonné de quatre tours rondes, dont deux ruinées, et entouré d'un fossé. Remontant pour l'essentiel au 15e siècle, il présente des traces de remaniements des deux siècles suivants, dont un décor sculpté gothique tardif et Renaissance. Les ailes nord et ouest ont été détruites et remaniées entre la Révolution et le 19e siècle. History
Principal residence of the Foix-Rabat family, the castle fits within a quadrilateral flanked by four round towers, two of which are ruined, and surrounded by a ditch. Dating essentially to the 15th century, it shows traces of alterations from the following two centuries, including late Gothic and Renaissance carved decoration. The north and west wings were destroyed and altered between the Revolution and the 19th century. This building is an interesting example of a residential castle of the 15th and 17th centuries, having succeeded the fortification mentioned in 1263, of which some remains may exist underground. The defensive character was maintained during modifications, with the construction of massive corner towers and the piercing of gun emplacements at a late date.
