Episcopal group mentioned from the 5th century. Construction of the church in the 12th century (the Romanesque apse remains). After the Wars of Religion, a new cathedral built from 1604 within the town walls, but the bishops continued to reside in their palace of the Sed which they had fitted out from 1654.
