"Le tir aux pigeons est pratiqué à Vichy à partir des années 1880, près des bains Lardy. En 1888, le président des tirs de Dieppe, Deauville et Nice offre ses services à la ville de Vichy pour l'organisation d'un grand concours international de tir. Deux concours se tiennent dans l'été 1888 sur un terrain du champ de courses. L'activité est déplacée dans les années 1900 en face des Célestins, sur la rive gauche de l'Allier. Le terrain est vaste et clos de murs. En 1901, l'architecte vichyssois Antoine Percilly reçoit la commande d'un bâtiment pour accompagner cette pratique, devant le terrain de tir proprement dit. L'édifice est agrandi vers l'ouest quelques années après. Les concours sont organisés en deux périodes entre le 1er juillet et le 25 août et attirent de nombreux adeptes de ce sport, notamment les concours internationaux, dotés de prix. La pratique du tir aux pigeons contribue à l'attractivité de la station et figure, comme le golf, sur les documents publicitaires. A partir de 1937, elle est déplacée sur un autre terrain de Bellerive, route de Gannat, où le tir est pratiqué jusqu'en 1980. Son ancien site est utilisé dans les années 1950-1960 par la Compagnie des archers de Vichy, puis est affecté à différentes pratiques sportives. Il a été acquis par la communauté d'agglomération en 1998."
Description
Bâtiment bas, très large et peu profond, construit en biais par rapport à l'Allier. Son entrée, au centre, est marquée par un portail monumental : deux tourelles carrées en avancée, couvertes en pavillon et percées de baies longues et étroites, encadrent une grande porte inscrite dans un encadrement cintré souligné d'un encadrement en briques. Le reste de la façade est éclairé de petites baies jumelées presque carrées. La façade arrière, face au terrain, est marquée par ses poteaux carrés soutenant l'avant-toit et par la partie centrale formant un vestibule en retrait, ouvert sur l'extérieur. Latéralement, des portes hautes et étroites donnent accès aux différentes pièces (vestiaires...)

Pigeon shooting was practiced in Vichy from the 1880s onwards, near the Lardy baths. Description
A low, very wide and shallow building, constructed at an angle to the Allier. Its entrance, at the centre, is marked by a monumental gateway: two square towers projecting forward, covered with a pavilion roof and pierced by long and narrow openings, frame a large door set in a round-arched frame underlined by a brick frame.
