Le château de Puyguillon fut érigé au 15ème siècle sur un terre-plein constituant terrasse et se composait d'un gros donjon carré défendu par une courtine de forme quadrangulaire, flanquée d'une grosse tour ronde et, à l'ouest en contrebas, par une basse-cour entourée d'une enceinte. Au 17ème siècle, une nouvelle bâtisse fut construite longeant l'enceinte supérieure. Son édification face aux jardins ordonnancés et récemment aménagés côté sud offrait ainsi un lieu de vie plus appréciable. Aux 17ème et 18ème siècles, des communs firent également leur apparition le long de la basse-cour. Vers 1870, de nouveaux bâtiments furent construits dans le but de rallier les différents corps de logis. Ainsi, les communs formait désormais un front continu autour des côtés Ouest, Nord et (sous la terrasse) Est de la cour inférieure, tandis qu'une aile Est formait liaison entre les deux parties du château lui-même. Cet élément fut édifié en prenant modèle sur le bâtiment 17ème siècle. Enfin, un petit corps de bâtiment prolongeait cette nouvelle aile jusqu'au donjon et se distinguait sur le plan architectural par des références médiévales, notamment avec ses baies cintrées et sa tour d'escalier crénelée.

History
The château of Puyguillon was erected in the 15th century on a terrace-platform and consisted of a large square keep defended by a quadrangular curtain wall, flanked by a large round tower and, to the west below, by a lower court surrounded by an enceinte. In the 17th century, a new building was constructed along the upper enceinte. Its construction facing the orderly gardens and recently arranged on the south side thus offered a more pleasant place to live. In the 17th and 18th centuries, outbuildings also made their appearance along the lower court. Around 1870, new buildings were constructed with the aim of connecting the different dwelling blocks. Thus, the outbuildings now formed a continuous front around the west, north and (under the terrace) east sides of the lower court, while an east wing formed a link between the two parts of the château itself. This element was built taking as a model the 17th century building. Finally, a small building block extended this new wing as far as the keep and distinguished itself architecturally by medieval references, notably with its round-arched openings and its crenellated stair tower.
