Loppidum is among the most important fortified protohistoric sites in Picardy. Its size (35 hectares), the presence of a complete defensive system (rampart, ditch, arranged entrance) and archaeological artefacts allowing dating of occupation from the Neolithic to the Roman period make it comparable to more scientifically well-known sites such as Gouvieux or Villeneuve-Saint-Germain.
