Historique
Bâtie en pierre avec de nombreuses reprises en brique, l'église se compose d'une nef précédée d'un portail en arc brisé, flanqué de deux échauguettes de brique. Mais l'essentiel des fortifications a été très concentré sur le choeur. Celui-ci beaucoup plus élevé que la nef, offre du nord et au sud, à la naissance de la nef, deux tourelles, arasées au 18e siècle. En outre, le chevet était autrefois percé de meurtrières : le clocher carré, coiffé d'une flèche octogonale, repose sur le choeur. L'église de Morgny, où les éléments médiévaux semblent avoir entièrement disparu, se caractérise, de ce fait, par une grande homogénéité, sinon au niveau de la mise en oeuvre, du moins au niveau des dispositions défensives. History
Built in stone with numerous repairs in brick, the church is composed of a nave preceded by a pointed arch portal, flanked by two brick machicolations. But the essential part of the fortifications was very concentrated on the choir. The latter, much higher than the nave, offers to the north and to the south, at the springing of the nave, two small towers, levelled in the 18th century. Moreover, the chevet was formerly pierced with arrow-slits: the square bell tower, capped with an octagonal spire, rests on the choir. The church of Morgny, where the medieval elements appear to have entirely disappeared, is characterized, by this fact, by a great homogeneity, if not in terms of execution, at least in terms of defensive arrangements. The whole of the building (west façade, nave, choir housing the refuge-room) was the object of adaptations to this end.
