Historique
Après les destructions dues à la Première guerre mondiale, le centre ville de Chauny est reconstruit par l'architecte Louis Rey à partir de 1920, en particulier le marché couvert, la gare et les deux églises. Le décor de la pâtisserie du marché couvert a été exécuté par Albert Raybaud qui utilise la technique des toiles peintes posées sur une toile marouflée puis fixée sous verre pour le plafond. Cette technique du décor sous verre connaît en effet son apogée entre la fin du 19e siècle et le début du 20e. La faïence, blanche avec un décor essentiellement floral, orne la devanture, les murs et une partie du plafond intérieur. Des miroirs sont installés sur les trois murs. Cette pâtisserie, par son ornementation, se situe dans une période qui allie tradition du 19e siècle et Art Déco.

History
After the destructions due to the First World War, the city centre of Chauny is rebuilt by architect Louis Rey from 1920 onwards, in particular the covered market, the railway station and the two churches. The decoration of the bakery of the covered market was executed by Albert Raybaud who uses the technique of painted canvases laid on a marouflaged canvas and then fixed under glass for the ceiling. This technique of decoration under glass indeed reaches its height between the late 19th century and the early 20th. The earthenware, white with decoration essentially floral, adorns the frontage, the walls and part of the interior ceiling. Mirrors are installed on three walls. This bakery, by its ornamentation, is situated in a period which combines 19th-century tradition and Art Deco.
