Historique
La carrière, exploitée depuis l'époque médiévale, a été occupée par les soldats français de 1914 jusqu'à la fin de la guerre. Les chasseurs alpins y ont laissé de nombreuses traces de leur présence, notamment une chapelle établie dans le fond de la carrière, près d'une sortie aménagée donnant accès aux premières lignes (la carrière comporte une autre chapelle, établie par le 67e R.I.T.). La chapelle des chasseurs alpins est constituée d'un autel sculpté dans la paroi avec tabernacle, credo, ciboire, palmiers et soldats en prière. On peut aussi voir un blason représentant le cor de chasse du 45e B.C.P. (chasseurs alpins) , des lauriers 1914-1915 et les noms des localités voisines. Enfin, on y trouve un petit "autel" en ogive, au ras du sol, avec une étoile à cinq branches et un petit profil anonyme portant la date février 1917.

History
The quarry, exploited since medieval times, was occupied by French soldiers from 1914 until the end of the war. The Alpine hunters left numerous traces of their presence there, notably a chapel established in the depths of the quarry, near an arranged exit providing access to the front lines (the quarry comprises another chapel, established by the 67th R.I.T.). The chapel of the Alpine hunters consists of an altar carved into the wall with tabernacle, creed, ciborium, palm trees and soldiers in prayer. One can also see a coat of arms representing the hunting horn of the 45th B.C.P. (Alpine hunters), laurels 1914-1915 and the names of nearby localities. Finally, there is a small "altar" in ogive, at ground level, with a five-pointed star and a small anonymous profile bearing the date February 1917.
