Exemple rarissime de monument érigé pendant la guerre (en 1915) par une unité allemande à la mémoire des victimes françaises et allemandes des combats ayant opposé à l'automne 1914 la 143e division de réserve allemande au 18e corps d'armée française et ayant abouti au reflux des français sur la rive gauche de l'Aisne. Le monument se compose d'un obélisque surmontant un abri bétonné à deux entrées abritant un poste d'observation. Le monument (dont l'obélisque est orné de deux stèles avec inscriptions en français et en allemand) est érigé dans un site isolé et jouit d'un point de vue remarquable sur la crête du Chemin des Dames.

History
Exceptionally rare example of a monument erected during the war (in 1915) by a German unit in memory of French and German victims of the fighting that opposed in autumn 1914 the 143rd German reserve division to the 18th French army corps and which resulted in the withdrawal of the French to the left bank of the Aisne. The monument consists of an obelisk surmounting a concrete shelter with two entrances sheltering an observation post. The monument (whose obelisk is adorned with two stelae with inscriptions in French and German) is erected in an isolated site and enjoys a remarkable viewpoint over the ridge of the Chemin des Dames.
