Historique
Nombreuses traces d'occupation humaine diverses et continues, de la Préhistoire jusqu'au 16e siècle. Position de hauteur occupée dès le 4e millénaire avant Jésus-Christ (néolithique moyen II et néolithique final) , l'éperon barré (fossé et rempart de terre) domine, à 306 mètres d'altitude, la vallée de la Moselle. Immédiatement à l'ouest de l'actuelle agglomération de Metz, il fut, au second âge du Fer, un important site fortifié en périphérie du chef-lieu de cité des Médiomatriques. Occupé sporadiquement durant l'Antiquité tardive, le site connaît ensuite une forte implantation funéraire dès la fin du 6e siècle et au début du 7e siècle. Dès le 12e siècle, un prieuré et un château fort coexistent durant deux siècles, accompagnés de structures domestiques et artisanales (fours à pain et à chaux, atelier métallurgique).

History
Numerous traces of various and continuous human occupation, from Prehistory until the 16th century. Height position occupied from the 4th millennium before Christ (middle Neolithic II and final Neolithic), the barred promontory (ditch and earth rampart) dominates, at 306 metres altitude, the Moselle valley. Immediately to the west of the present agglomeration of Metz, it was, in the second Iron Age, an important fortified site on the periphery of the capital of the Médiomatriques tribe. Sporadically occupied during late Antiquity, the site then experiences strong funerary implantation from the end of the 6th century and beginning of the 7th century. From the 12th century, a priory and a stronghold coexist for two centuries, accompanied by domestic and craft structures (bread and lime kilns, metalworking workshop).
