History

The edifice dates, overall, from the late 12th early 13th century. Portal, bell tower and two chapels from the 16th century. Work probably concerning the interior arrangement (plaster ceiling) took place in 1863 and at various times. The sacristy was constructed in 1896. The stations of the cross were erected in 1893. The plan is that of a rectangle supported by two chapels forming transepts. On either side of the south chapel are found a small annexe and the sacristy along the choir. To this plan is grafted, to the south, the bell tower of square plan, linked to the west elevation of the church by one of its corners. An awning carried by three wooden posts protects the forecourt. The bell tower is a tall tower of three storeys. Access to the upper parts of this bell tower is by a spiral staircase cage placed at the corner formed with the south wall of the nave. Of Renaissance date, the west portal presents a basket-handle voussure. The splayed openings with setbacks are ornamented with continuous mouldings, framed by two pillars with foliated capitals. A tympanum is inscribed within a raised archivolt ending in the scrolls of a rose window. A trilobed arch divides this tympanum into two sections. It encloses a central niche where a now-disappeared statue was to be found, and two lateral shells flanked with a colonnette to the right and to the left.
