Ce couvent de Pénitents a été fondé en 1472, saccagé à la fin du 16e siècle lors des guerres de religion, puis consacré à nouveau en 1605. Au 17e siècle ont été construits la nouvelle chapelle (1632) , le cloître et le dortoir. Au 19e siècle ont été installés un orphelinat, une maison de retraite et pensionnat, ce qui a entraîné l'agrandissement de l'ensemble des bâtiments vers 1880. L'édifice présente une juxtaposition de constructions troglodytiques et en élévation.

History
This convent of Penitents was founded in 1472, sacked at the end of the 16th century during the Wars of Religion, then consecrated anew in 1605. In the 17th century the new chapel (1632), the cloister and the dormitory were built. In the 19th century an orphanage, a retirement home and boarding school were installed, which led to the enlargement of the whole complex around 1880. The building displays a juxtaposition of troglodytic and above-ground constructions.
