Comme son homologue d'Andé (notice Mérimée PA00135535) , le moulin de Muids, situé sur un bras de la Seine, est du type à roue pendante. Attesté en 1454, il remonte sans doute à une époque plus ancienne. Deux fortes piles de pierre à avant-bec portent une construction en pan de bois du 17e ou du 18e siècle à haute toiture, d'où dépassent les anciennes cheminées de tirants dans lesquelles ces pièces verticales venaient se loger lorsque la roue était relevée à son maximum. Le mécanisme a disparu : la roue était encore en place avant les années 1950, et seuls quelques éléments du mécanisme de bois ont été retrouvés. Un petit bâtiment de brique a été accolé au moulin au milieu du 19e siècle afin d'abriter une machine à vapeur auxiliaire chargée de suppléer la roue lors des basses eaux, machine toujours en place. Un projet de reconstitution de la roue est à l'étude. Ce moulin, comme celui d'Andé, a été protégé en 1995 dans le cadre d'une thématique moulins à roue pendante.

History
Like its counterpart at Andé (Mérimée notice PA00135535), the mill of Muids, situated on an arm of the Seine, is of the hanging-wheel type. Attested in 1454, it dates back without doubt to an even earlier period. Two stout piles of stone with cutwater bear a construction in timber framing of the 17th or 18th century with a high roof, from which project the old chimneys of tension members in which these vertical pieces came to lodge when the wheel was raised to its maximum. The mechanism has disappeared: the wheel was still in place before the 1950s, and only a few elements of the wooden mechanism have been recovered. A small brick building was attached to the mill in the middle of the 19th century to house an auxiliary steam engine charged with supplementing the wheel during low waters, a machine still in place. A project for reconstitution of the wheel is under study. This mill, like that of Andé, was protected in 1995 within a framework of hanging-wheel mills.
