Historique
La mine de fer est d'abord propriété de la société germano-belge Aumetz Friede. Creusée en 1897 et mise en exploitation en 1900, la mine approvisionne en minerai l'usine sidérurgique de Knutange. En 1940, les installations de surface sont dynamitées par l'armée française, puis reconstruites dès 1941 : chevalement neuf en treillis par Klöckner Werke S. A. et nouvelle machine d'extraction à tambours bi-coniques ; nouvelles molettes en 1946 ; nouveau bâtiment en béton armé pour une nouvelle machine d'extraction en 1963. L'exploitation est abandonnée en 1984, puis le site est mis en valeur par le musée de Neufchef.

History
The iron mine is initially owned by the German-Belgian company Aumetz Friede. Excavated in 1897 and put into operation in 1900, the mine supplies ore to the iron and steel works of Knutange. In 1940, the surface installations are dynamited by the French army, then rebuilt from 1941: new lattice headframe by Klöckner Werke S.A. and new bi-conical drum extraction machine; new pulleys in 1946; new reinforced concrete building for a new extraction machine in 1963. Exploitation is abandoned in 1984, then the site is developed by the Neufchef museum.
