Edifié en partie sur l'emplacement de l'ancienne usine à gaz de Vaugirard, le lycée Camille Sée, pouvant accueillir 1 500 élèves, est dû à l'architecte François Le Coeur. Les premiers plans datent de 1931. L'ensemble, inauguré en octobre 1934, s'organise autour d'une cour. L'ossature des bâtiments est en béton armé. L'édifice comporte sept niveaux, deux en sous-sol et cinq en élévation. L'entrée est marquée par une rotonde vitrée couverte d'une coupole en pavés de verre ; elle abrite un escalier hélicoïdal. Salué par la presse architecturale de l'époque, cet établissement a servi de modèle pour une série de lycées construits jusqu'en 1939. La salle des professeurs est décorée d'une "fresque" due au peintre Yves Allix.

History
Built partly on the site of the former Vaugirard gas works, the lycée Camille Sée, capable of accommodating 1,500 pupils, is the work of architect François Le Coeur. The first plans date from 1931. The complex, inaugurated in October 1934, is organised around a courtyard. The structure of the buildings is in reinforced concrete. The building comprises seven levels, two below ground and five above ground. The entrance is marked by a glazed rotunda covered with a vault of glass blocks; it houses a helical staircase. Acclaimed by the architectural press of the time, this establishment served as a model for a series of lycées built until 1939. The staff room is decorated with a "fresco" by painter Yves Allix.
