Campaign of urban development under the Second Empire: construction of fountains (1857-1858), of the town hall (building erected from 1857 to 1861 by the Clermontois architect Taché). This building stands out for the black colour of its façades in Volvic stone. The symmetrical composition of the main building flanked by two annexes on either side is quite characteristic of the concerns of the end of the neo-classical period. Decoration in Neo-Renaissance style.
