History
Dependent on the women's priory of Paravis, from which it was separated by only a few metres, the priory of Saint-Jean de l'Habit housed the chaplains, confessors and spiritual directors of the nuns. In accordance with the statutes of the order of Fontevrault, these religious men were placed under the authority of the prioress of Paravis. Founded in the early 12th century, Saint-Jean de l'Habit was remodelled notably in the 16th and 17th centuries. Sold as national property, it was transformed into a farm and underwent further transformations in the 19th and 20th centuries.
