Historique
Antérieure à 1835, la propriété Appavoupoulle a été vouée à la plantation de la canne à sucre, à l'exploitation du bois de filaos et à la culture de la vanille, activités qu'accompagnaient des installations techniques à vocation tantôt industrielle, tantôt agricole. La vanillerie, bâtiment ancien qui a subi des transformations en 1962 après les dégâts du cyclone Jenny, comprend une partie basse réservée à la préparation et une partie haute affectée au séchage et à l'atelier d'empaquetage. Les écuries sont en maçonnerie de galets, l'intérieur de chaque stalle est pavé et dispose d'une mangeoire en pierre de taille. La minoterie, construite en 1941, servait à moudre le maïs et le manioc ; elle est bâtie en maçonnerie et comportait deux salles, l'une pour le moulin, l'autre pour la génératrice électrique. La villa est construite en pan de bois sur un soubassement de basalte.

History
Prior to 1835, the Appavoupoulle property was devoted to sugar cane plantation, the exploitation of filao wood and vanilla cultivation, activities which were accompanied by technical installations serving either industrial or agricultural purposes. The vanilla house, an old building which underwent transformations in 1962 following damage from cyclone Jenny, comprises a lower section reserved for preparation and an upper section used for drying and a packing workshop. The stables are built in rubble stone masonry, the interior of each stall is paved and has a stone trough. The mill, constructed in 1941, served to grind maize and cassava; it is built in masonry and comprised two rooms, one for the mill, the other for the electrical generator. The villa is constructed in timber framing on a basalt foundation.
