Les Grands Carmes, arrivés à Limoges au milieu du 13e siècle, résidèrent d'abord près du pont Saint-Martial puis construisirent leur monastère près de l'ancien amphithéâtre. A la Révolution, la communauté est dissoute et les bâtiments déclarés biens nationaux et mis en vente. De l'ensemble, il ne subsiste que la salle capitulaire et une partie des bâtiments conventuels, ainsi que des vestiges de sculptures et de vitraux. L'ancien dortoir des moines (grande salle du premier étage) conserve des vestiges de peintures murales de la fin du 13e ou du début du 14e siècle. Dans un décor de rinceaux, un moine est présenté à la Vierge à l'Enfant.

History
The Grands Carmes, arrived in Limoges in the middle of the 13th century, first resided near the pont Saint-Martial then constructed their monastery near the former amphitheatre. At the Revolution, the community was dissolved and the buildings declared national property and put up for sale. From the ensemble, there remain only the chapter house and part of the conventional buildings, as well as vestiges of sculptures and stained glass. The former dormitory of the monks (large room on the first floor) preserves vestiges of mural paintings from the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century. In a decoration of scrollwork, a monk is presented to the Virgin and Child.
