Historique
L'ancien grand séminaire diocésain, ensemble monumental très homogène en pierre de taille, a été construit entre 1736 et 1741 (corps central et ailes sur cour) , 1758 (prolongement de l'aile nord vers la rue) , 1779 (prolongement de l'aile sud vers la rue) , 1827-1828 (prolongement des ailes sur le jardin par l'architecte départemental Cheussey). Cette architecture d'une élégante sobriété est en outre agrémentée d'un décor sculpté Louis XVI concentré au niveau des avant-corps et de beaux garde-corps en ferronnerie 18e. La chapelle est pourvue d'un décor néo-Louis XVI réalisé entre 1877 et 1882. Les bâtiments, qui abritèrent le Grand Séminaire entre 1741 et 1906, sont occupés par l'armée depuis 1909.

History
The former diocesan grand seminary, a very homogeneous monumental ensemble in ashlar stone, was built between 1736 and 1741 (central block and wings around the courtyard), 1758 (extension of the north wing towards the street), 1779 (extension of the south wing towards the street), 1827-1828 (extension of the wings overlooking the garden by the departmental architect Cheussey). This architecture of elegant sobriety is furthermore embellished with Louis XVI sculptural decoration concentrated at the level of the projecting sections and beautiful 18th-century ironwork railings. The chapel is provided with neo-Louis XVI decoration executed between 1877 and 1882. The buildings, which housed the Grand Seminary between 1741 and 1906, have been occupied by the military since 1909.
