Historique

History
In the 17th century, the seigneury was repurchased by the bishops of Lavaur to make it their summer residence by constructing the castle. In the 18th century, the bishops added a chapel in Louis XV style. In 1793, the castle was sold as national property and the rooms were subdivided. The owner had the frescoes of the hall executed by Debard, municipal architect. It is an architecture of the classical period. The plan comprises a rectangular central main dwelling flanked, on the east, by a protruding and higher quadrangular building. Traces of cutting indicate, on the opposite side, that a symmetrical wing of the same type was demolished or never came into being. Access to the central body is by two flights of straight stairs, north and south. An annex, probably built in the 18th century at the location of the west wing, comprises a small chapel of two bays decorated with plasterwork in rocaille style. On the first floor of the main dwelling, three rooms retain French-style ceilings and fireplaces.
