Maison comportant une grande galerie d'exposition et construite de 1958 à 1960 pour le collectionneur et marchand d'art Louis Carré (1897-1977). Conçue dans ses moindres détails par l'architecte Alvar Aalto, à qui le commanditaire donne carte blanche, elle est l'unique oeuvre française de cet architecte finlandais. L'architecte français Guy Derevoge collabore avec Aalto pour suivre le chantier de construction, confié à des entreprises finlandaises. L'édifice est élevé en briques peintes en blanc, avec un soubassement en pierre. Les huisseries à l'intérieur sont en sapin rouge. History
House comprising a large exhibition gallery and built from 1958 to 1960 for collector and art dealer Louis Carré (1897-1977). Designed in its every detail by architect Alvar Aalto, to whom the patron gives a free hand, it is the sole French work by this Finnish architect. French architect Guy Derevoge collaborates with Aalto to oversee the construction site, entrusted to Finnish companies. The building is built of bricks painted white, with a stone plinth. The interior joinery is in red fir. A swimming pool and garage, also designed by Aalto, were built from 1961 to 1962.
