Historique
Situé au fond d'une impasse qui ouvre sur la rue de Vaugirard, l'immeuble construit par l'architecte Rob Mallet-Stevens en 1932 était conçu comme un "hôtel" pour le peintre, maître-verrier et mosaïste Louis Barillet, qui collaborait souvent avec l'architecte dans ses projets. L'édifice, réalisé en béton armé, comporte un grand atelier en rez-de-chaussée, destiné au travail de la découpe du verre et de la mise en forme des vitraux. L'appartement est situé au-dessus, au quatrième étage. Deux vitraux de Barillet subsistent ; composé de verres laminés aux reliefs variés, l'un se développe sur toute la hauteur de la cage d'escalier. Subsistent également des motifs en mosaïque ornant chaque palier, mais l'espace de l'atelier a été cloisonné et la façade (orientée vers le nord pour l'éclairage de l'atelier) a été recomposée.

History
Located at the end of a cul-de-sac which opens onto the rue de Vaugirard, the building constructed by architect Rob Mallet-Stevens in 1932 was designed as a "house" for the painter, master glazier and mosaicist Louis Barillet, who frequently collaborated with the architect on his projects. The edifice, executed in reinforced concrete, comprises a large workshop on the ground floor, intended for glass-cutting work and the shaping of stained glass. The apartment is situated above, on the fourth floor. Two stained glass windows by Barillet remain; composed of laminated glass with varied reliefs, one develops over the entire height of the stairwell. Also remaining are mosaic motifs adorning each landing, but the workshop space has been partitioned and the façade (facing north for workshop lighting) has been recomposed.
