Ancien logement des seigneurs de Pont-Croix, construit au 15e siècle, la maison dénommée le Marquisat (du nom de la Marquise de Pont-Croix, Madame de Forcalquier, qui en était propriétaire à la fin du 18e siècle) est une petite maison urbaine de construction simple, mais soignée, comme en témoignent certains détails (portes, fenêtres d'angle, têtes sculptées de la corniche). Située près de l'emplacement de l'ancienne forteresse et à côté de l'auditoire, la maison noble constituait avec ce dernier le coeur de la cité de Pont-Croix à l'époque moderne. Restée intacte jusqu'à notre époque, elle a maintenant perdu une partie de son authenticité par le percement d'une porte de garage dans le pignon est et surtout par la disparition de la charpente d'origine.

History
Former residence of the lords of Pont-Croix, built in the 15th century, the house called the Marquisat (named after the Marquise of Pont-Croix, Madame de Forcalquier, who owned it at the end of the 18th century) is a small urban house of simple but careful construction, as evidenced by certain details (doors, corner windows, sculpted heads of the cornice). Situated near the site of the former fortress and beside the auditoire, the noble house constituted with the latter the heart of the town of Pont-Croix in the modern period. Remaining intact until our time, it has now lost part of its authenticity by the opening of a garage door in the east gable and especially by the disappearance of the original roof structure.
