Historique

History
Présailles was the seat of a priory whose church was dependent on Le Puy. The rural building, of Gothic architecture, appears to have been built essentially in the 12th and 13th centuries. The second south chapel was added in the 16th century (altarpiece dated 1556). Restoration during the 19th century. Slate roof remade in 1937. The church adopts a regular plan with a nave flanked by two chapels on each side, and a three-sided chevet. The bell tower wall is located above the western façade. Inside, the nave is covered with a barrel vault. The first chapels open onto it by a round arch. The second chapels, of Gothic style, open by a moulded round arch resting on prismatic bases. A gallery occupies the back of the church. The choir is rib-vaulted resting on corbels. The stained glass in the choir is by Mauvernay (1885). Those of the first north and south chapels, as well as that of the tympanum of the entrance door are by glazier Borie (1943).
