Château certainement construit entre le Xème et XIème siècle. Les premières mentions du château se retrouvent dès 1173 dans un traité concernant la séparation du Lyonnais et du Forez. Le château est une possession des comptes du Forez et passera entre les mains du comté à la mort de Renaux du Forez. Le château est acheté en 1521 par Guillaume de Bron seigneur de la ligue à Anne de Baujeau et à son gendre le duc Charles III. La famille du propriétaire actuel Monsieur de Sorbier de Pougnadoresse achète le château au comte de Bron en 1680.

History
Castle certainly built between the 10th and 11th century. The first mentions of the castle are found as early as 1173 in a treaty concerning the separation of Lyonnais and Forez. The castle is a possession of the counts of Forez and will pass into the hands of the county at the death of Renaux of Forez. The castle is purchased in 1521 by Guillaume de Bron lord of the league from Anne de Baujeau and her son-in-law Duke Charles III. The family of the current owner Monsieur de Sorbier de Pougnadoresse buys the castle from the count of Bron in 1680.
