Après le décès de sa mère, en 1790, Stendhal vient habiter chez son grand-père, le docteur Gagnon, dans une maison donnant sur la Grande-rue, la place Grenette et le jardin de ville. Maison construite au 16e siècle, agrandie au 17e siècle et modifiée au 18e siècle par le père du docteur Gagnon. Les appartements occupent le deuxième étage d'immeubles situés à l'intérieur de l'enceinte romaine.

History
After the death of his mother, in 1790, Stendhal comes to live at the home of his grandfather, the doctor Gagnon, in a house overlooking the Grande-rue, the place Grenette and the town garden. House built in the 16th century, enlarged in the 17th century and modified in the 18th century by the father of doctor Gagnon. The apartments occupy the second floor of buildings located inside the Roman enclosure.
