Il est presque impossible de dater le calvaire de Mogneneins puisque les indices sont, d'une part l'ordre stylistique du gothique finissant, les initiales P.A gravées sur un écusson. Celle-ci pourraient correspondre à Anne de Beaujeu (1460-1520) et Pierre II de Bourbon, son époux, et donner ainsi un créneau de datation. On peut rappeler que les sires de Beaujeu eurent autorité sur une partie de la Dombes dès le début du XIIIe siècle et que les sires de Villars cédèrent, au début du XVe siècle, toutes leurs possessions en Dombes à Louis II de Bourbon. Mais sans documentation plus précis, il est impossible de trancher.
Description
Le calcaire ancien est porté par un fut octogonal couronné par un chapiteau de type corinthien probablement réalisé au XIXe siècle lors de la construction de l'église. Le programme du calvaire offre le principe d'un Christ en croix figuré dos-à-dos avec une Vierge à l'Enfant. Ce groupe principal est conçu dans un ensemble sculpté assez foisonnant avec des arcatures flamboyantes renforçant le bras de la croix, des fleurons et des crochets de feuillages, des bestiaires, des anges latéraux, le tout est surmonté d'un cygne.

History
It is almost impossible to date the calvary of Mogneneins since the evidence is, on one hand the stylistic order of late Gothic, the initials P.A engraved on an escutcheon. These could correspond to Anne of Beaujeu (1460-1520) and Pierre II of Bourbon, her husband, and thus give a dating bracket. Description
The old limestone is supported by an octagonal shaft crowned by a Corinthian-type capital probably made in the 19th century during the construction of the church. The programme of the calvary offers the principle of a Christ on the cross figured back-to-back with a Virgin and Child. This main group is conceived within a fairly abundant sculptured ensemble with flamboyant arcading reinforcing the arm of the cross, fleurons and foliage crockets, bestiaries, lateral angels, the whole surmounted by a swan.
