A l'extrémité est de la ville haute, en contrebas des remparts, subsistent d'imposants vestiges de ce monastère fondé par saint Valéry : ruines de la magnifique église du 13e siècle (bas-côté sud de la nef, chapelle absidale st Nicolas) , restes du cloître reconstruit au 17e siècle (ces derniers englobés dans les maçonneries de l'hôtel abbatial, harmonieuse construction brique et pierre de 1752) , mur d'enceinte et portail des 17e-18e siècles à appareil en damier de silex, ancien hôtel abbatial du 17e siècle. Haut lieu du monachisme picard : l'une des plus anciennes fondations monastiques de la région (v. 615) , témoin d'événements historiques majeurs : restitution des reliques par Hugues Capet (981) , séjour de Guillaume le Conquérant avant son départ pour l'Angleterre (1066)... Intéressant exemple de l'évolution architecturale et des aléas historiques d'une abbaye bénédictine.

At the eastern extremity of the upper town, below the ramparts, survive imposing vestiges of this monastery founded by Saint Valéry: ruins of the magnificent 13th century church (south aisle of the nave, absidalchapel of St Nicolas), remains of the cloister rebuilt in the 17th century (the latter embedded in the masonry of the abbatial hotel, harmonious construction of brick and stone of 1752), enclosure wall and gateway of the 17th-18th centuries in chequerwork of flint, old abbatial hotel of the 17th century. High place of Picard monasticism: one of the oldest monastic foundations of the region (c. 615), witness of major historical events: restitution of relics by Hugh Capet (981), stay of William the Conqueror before his departure for England (1066)... Interesting example of the architectural evolution and historical vicissitudes of a Benedictine abbey.
