History
Construction of the Romanesque keep in the early 12th century. Château built around 1120 (resting on the Gallo-Roman wall of the Late Empire), enlarged in the 13th century, remodelled in the 15th century. Priory founded in the 13th century by Louis IX; the church has disappeared; the main dwelling was probably built in the early 15th century. The 18th-century main dwelling today houses the hunting museum. Priory remodelled in the 19th century in neo-Gothic taste.
