Historique
La maison Gréber constitue une réclame pour les ateliers du potier et céramiste Charles Gréber, ateliers fondés vers 1850 par son père, Johan-Peter Gréber. La façade, entièrement habillée en grès cérame, est réalisée en 1911 sur les dessins de l'architecte amiénois Maurice Thorel. On distingue, au centre, un potier à son tour, avec des bandes décorées de petits sauriens grimpants. La façade est plaquée sur une maison plus ancienne à structure en pans de bois et torchis, caractéristique de l'architecture vernaculaire du Beauvaisis. La façade porte aussi les enseignes Manufacture de grès artistiques, Décoration architecturale, Poteries usuelles en grès fins. La maison a été vendue en 1962 au concessionnaire Citroën de Beauvais. The Gréber house constitutes an advertisement for the workshops of potter and ceramicist Charles Gréber, workshops founded around 1850 by his father, Johan-Peter Gréber. The façade, entirely clad in stoneware ceramics, was created in 1911 on the designs of Amiens architect Maurice Thorel. One can distinguish, at the centre, a potter at his wheel, with bands decorated with small climbing lizards. The façade is affixed to an older house with timber framing and wattle structure, characteristic of the vernacular architecture of the Beauvaisis. The façade also bears the signs Manufacture of artistic stoneware, Architectural decoration, Everyday wares in fine stoneware. The house was sold in 1962 to the Citroën dealer in Beauvais. Nothing remains of the manufacturing workshops or the kilns of the manufacture.
