Historique
Implantée dans le quartier Saint-Marcel, l'église remplace l'ancienne chapelle dédiée à Saint-Odon. Le site fut, en effet, reconstruit par l'abbé Hugues III, vers 1159. Elle comprend une nef unique charpentée terminée par un choeur placé sous le clocher et une abside hémicirculaire voûtée en cul-de-four. Le clocher est une tour octogonale ajourée à trois étages, surmontée, probablement au 16e siècle, d'une flèche en briques. Les travaux réalisés au 19e siècle, notamment dans les années 1872-1876 par l'architecte départemental Giroud, lui donnent son aspect actuel. Ils conduisirent à la création d'un plafond ainsi qu'à une vaste campagne de décoration intérieure (peintures murales, vitraux) servant d'écrin à un plusieurs objets remarquables, tels les fonts baptismaux et l'autel provenant de l'abbaye de Cluny.

History
Located in the Saint-Marcel district, the church replaces the old chapel dedicated to Saint-Odon. The site was indeed rebuilt by Abbot Hugues III, around 1159. It comprises a single timber-framed nave ending in a choir placed under the bell tower and a semi-circular apse vaulted in a quarter-sphere vault. The bell tower is an octagonal ajouré tower with three storeys, surmounted, probably in the 16th century, by a spire in bricks. Works carried out in the 19th century, notably in the years 1872-1876 by the departmental architect Giroud, give it its present appearance. They led to the creation of a ceiling as well as a vast campaign of interior decoration (murals, stained glass) serving as a setting for several remarkable objects, such as the baptismal fonts and the altar coming from Cluny Abbey.
