Château actuel du 16e siècle (bâti de 1550 à 1553) , succédant à une maison-forte du 12e siècle. Durant la Révolution, destruction du châtelet, de sculptures et d'armoiries. En 1903, les douves sont restaurées, les dépendances situées au nord du château sont réaménagées. Une orangerie est bâtie à proximité, avec un système de chauffage encore en place. En 1918, Harry Truman, futur président des Etats-Unis, y séjourne plusieurs mois. Au cours de la Seconde guerre mondiale, le château est occupé par les Allemands.

History
Present castle of the 16th century (built from 1550 to 1553), succeeding a fortified house of the 12th century. During the Revolution, destruction of the chatelet, of sculptures and heraldry. In 1817, major demolition works due to the fire of 1794 which destroyed three quarters of the castle. In 1903, the moats are restored, the outbuildings situated to the north of the castle are remodelled. An orangery is built nearby, with a heating system still in place. In 1918, Harry Truman, future president of the United States, stays there for several months. During the Second World War, the castle is occupied by the Germans.
