Historique

History
The stronghold is mentioned as early as 1147. It is a strong house that evolved into a country residence. The fortress was ruined by the Hundred Years' War. The present building block was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century and features an octagonal tower. In the 16th century, descriptions mention a château enclosed by walls, towers, water-filled ditches with drawbridge and watchtower. In the 17th century, François de Bricqueville, a noble Protestant, arranges the part overlooking the interior courtyard, adding the tower with chamfered angles and new openings. The chapel is converted into a temple. A new arrangement is realised in the 18th century: lowering of roofs, creation of dormers. The final modifications are made to the building on the eve of the Revolution.
